The '''Barricade''' is a defensive structure used by the [[United Nations Space Command]]. They are modular in construction, allowing them to be refit with a variety of specialised upgrades to increase their defensive utility.

Barricades are featured in the mission [[Hold the Line]] as defensive structures in order to prevent the [[Banished]] from reaching the [[particle cannon]]. They are placed at the start of the level and can not be replaced once destroyed, though they can be repaired.

In the ''[[Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare|Awakening the Nightmare]]'' expansion, Barricades are heavily featured as a buildable fortification for use in [[Terminus Firefight]]. In this mode they serve as upgrades of the [[UNSC Fence|basic Fence]], boasting greater health and the ability to be further-upgraded with one of three specialisations. The basic Fence costs {{HW2Supplies|150}} to build, and a further {{HW2Supplies|200}} to upgrade to the Barricade.

Once constructed, enemy forces will target and attack the Barricade. Once destroyed, ground units are able to progress towards the [[Terminus]], while aircraft may simply pass over it. Enemies destroying Barricades will help their units gain veterancy XP, though this can also be used to distract them from attacking more valuable [[Socket base|base structures]] and player units.

*Infantry can be garrisoned in this barricade, making them much more resistant to damage. However, melee units stationed in the barricade (as with any other garrison structure) will not be able to attack at all.
