==Overview==
Telemetry probes are similar in concept to [[relay mite]]s and [[malakost tracker]]s used by the [[Covenant]]. They can be discretely attached to an enemy spacecraft, then proceeding to track its position via analysis of the stars in the sky. Once a sufficient amount of data has been gathered, the probe then fires a small memory canister through a miniature [[Slipstream space|slipspace]] field for retrieval and analysis by the UNSC.{{Ref/Comic|Id=esc19|HE|Issue=19}} They can also track an enemy spacecraft through slipspace. In [[2537]], at the [[Battle of New Harmony]], the [[prowler]] {{UNSCShip|Razor's Edge}} managed to attach one to a [[Covenant starship]] at the battle, and track it to [[K7-49]], a Covenant shipyard facility seventeen light-years from [[human]]ity's  [[Outer Colonies]].{{Ref/Reuse|GoO}}

By [[2558#September|September 2558]], the newest model of UNSC telemetry probe could fit into a small handheld case. A vast improvement over previous models, this new model's micro [[slipspace drive]] no longer requires days to charge, and is completely reliable. It is also noted as being extremely expensive. This type of telemetry probe was to be used in [[Operation: ATHENA]] to relay the [[Absolute Record]]'s location back to the UNSC, but the probe was destroyed when the [[Breath of Annihilation|ship it was on]] suffered heavy damage.{{Ref/Reuse|esc19}}
