Tank Still Beats Everything
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Tank Still Beats Everything is an achievement in Halo 5: Guardians, awarded for completing the tank run on Genesis on Legendary difficulty without getting the Scorpion destroyed.[1]
Strategy[edit]
After meeting with 031 Exuberant Witness, she will teleport in a Scorpion for the player to use throughout the level. The route to the Gateway is filled with many hostile Covenant and Prometheans, including several Wraiths (both the normal and Ultra varieties), Promethean Knights armed with Incineration Cannons, and Phaetons that can easily kill players on Legendary difficulty, even if they are riding a tough vehicle like the Scorpion. The final enemy in this segment is the Warden Eternal, who is joined by a few Focus Turrets. Due to the number of highly dangerous enemies, the player should try to keep their distance while taking out all the enemies along the way. Seeking cover is also strongly recommended in order to avoid taking too much damage. If the Scorpion gets badly damaged, Exuberant Witness will make a comment. She will issue an urgent warning if the Scorpion is about to be destroyed. To avoid having to redo most of the mission, the player should manually save into any of the three save slots after Exuberant teleports in the Scorpion and reload from that save as a fallback in case the Scorpion does get destroyed.
Trivia[edit]
- The achievement's name is a reference to the Halo 3 level The Ark, where during which a Marine declares: "Tank beats everything!"[2]
- This achievement, with its name and unlock criteria, is a homage to the Halo: Reach achievement Tank Beats Everything, which involves completing The Package on the aforementioned difficulty without losing the Scorpion.
- Although the achievement's description says to "Finish the 13th mission without losing the Scorpion on Legendary difficulty", it is awarded after defeating the Warden Eternal during his first encounter. Driving the Scorpion into the subsequent dual Wardens boss fight and getting it destroyed does not affect the achievement.
