Are we sure this isn't the entrance to the titanium mines mentioned in FOR? pestilence Phil, pestilence! 17:27, 16 February 2011 (EST)

Havn't actually read the book yet (been meaning to :P), but given the other two maps are locations from the book, I'd say it's very likely indeed, I guess no one had thought of it yet. Alex T Snow 17:38, 16 February 2011 (EST)
It's definitely inspired by CASTLE base, which was built around an abandoned titanium mine. I'm not sure that it is the same mine, though. CASTLE base was up in the Highland mountains, the terrain of which is very different from Viery - more plant and animal life/diversity.-- Forerunner 17:40, 16 February 2011 (EST)
It would still be a good thing to consider, as Bungie has changed some things described in the books into a different look. It was just a thing for everyone to keep in mind. pestilence Phil, pestilence! 17:42, 16 February 2011 (EST)
They kept the look of the Highland Mountains region pretty similar to the books in the Highlands map. CASTLE base was located in that same region - I doubt they'd place a desert right next to a mountainous woodland. What's also a major difference is the type of the mine - this one is a giant open pit mine while the one that housed CASTLE base consisted mostly of tunnels under the surface, as evident by the fact the surrounding mountains were still intact. Plus, Reach had plenty of titanium mines and only one was really mentioned in the books. I'll agree that the map's setting is definitely a nod to the fiction though, but not necessarily the Menachite Mountain mine. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 17:52, 16 February 2011 (EST)
It was the site of open-caste mining... just at the end of the Fall of Reach and by the Covenant. I agree - definitely unrelated sites, but it is a reference to the Menachite mountain mine, nontheless.-- Forerunner 18:16, 16 February 2011 (EST)

Possibility of 5 person firefight?[edit]

Looking at this image [1] here, I couldn't help but notice that there might be 5 Spartans in one map. Now this may be a hologram, but I just notice. One is firing the focus Rifle, and there's the another one jet packing off to the right, another jet packing by the pipe near the top at the map, one by the phantom that is jet packing, and then there is that one there that is to the South East corner of the Spartan jet packing off that little ledge (near focus rifle spartan). I find it odd how there is some Spartan (with a jet pack I think) just there in behind that bar. I don't think that is an Elite ranger in the background with the concussion rifle, mainly because the wave that was dropped off were brutes. Tell me what you think.

Is this a promotional image? If so, keep in mind that it may not be a perfectly unaltered screenshot. If I'm not mistaken, some promotional images from Halo 2 and Halo 3 were created by combining several images into one. / / STRYKER   [ COM | LOG/M | LOG/S | AAU/HUM ] 19:26, 16 March 2011 (EDT)
Maybe. I just saw the image in the article page.

It appears to be the same Spartan character model, so it is likely a blending of images. pestilence Phil, pestilence! 19:37, 16 March 2011 (EDT)

I guess we'll just assume that for now.
