Talk:Light bridge

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

For a very long time, since the first Halo game, I have noticed something about the energy/light bridges and all the different forms of shields. As the article cites, the energy bridge excited the photons it emits to displace the air around them, becoming coherent and solid. If you take the time to shoot at the barrier, the impacts and deflections are identical to those of Elite, Jackal, Sentinel, and Mjolnir shielding in appearance and sound.

This "Solid Light" theory that has been cited in the article provides some credence to such an idea. Maybe the energy shields are a streamlined, defensive use of the technology. Just as the photons are excited in a certain manner and are engineered to act like a barrier, the quantum mechanism described in the theory could help explain it.

However, in order for this effect to work, it appears that it requires a material substrate of some sort to work. So then by proxy, we could say that the light bridges and energy shields are generated by a layer of particles such as a cold plasma which then are displaced, i.e. are the mechanism which allows the photons subsequently emitted by the system to act as this kind of barrier.

Interesting that a description of this from Bungie could have a real-life connection.

Of course, I could be wrong, but hopefully this provides some food for thought.
