Dirt[edit]

Wait, is this the ODST unit that Gage Yevgenny, Felicia Sanderson, and others were a part of during the Battle of New Jerusalem? Or, is the Rookie the only known member of the unit? - NightHammer (talk) 11:05, 9 July 2014 (EDT)

I believe the Rookie is listed as the only known member because it hasn't been confirmed whether the other ODSTs in Dirt were part of the same unit. And the Rookie's arrival some time after Gage and co. opens up the possibility that they're different units, with the 26th MEF possibly sent in as reinforcements. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 02:32, 10 July 2014 (EDT)
All right, that's what I thought too. - NightHammer (talk) 14:18, 10 July 2014 (EDT)
This unit is never mentioned in Dirt. New Jerusalem and Mount Haven are two separate events. We have no idea if the Rookie was an ODST in this unit, or a regular Marine. Shouldn't we get rid of the citation? - mdbleach (talk) 14:10, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
The Rookie was part of the 26th MEF, as shown under his entry in the ODST Field Guide.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:18, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
Right, but it doesn't specify whether he was an ODST or a regular Marine. We also do not know from Dirt that the 26th MEF was ever present at Mount Haven. Gage surmises it's his first drop, suggesting that after the events at New Jerusalem, he became an ODST and dropped into Mount Haven, but that's as close a confirmation as we get. - mdbleach (talk) 14:19, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

(reset indent) He was definitely an ODST before New Jerusalem. His Halo Waypoint Universe page says the following:

"After completing ODST training, the Rookie served in a Rapid Offensive Picket within the 26th Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF). Almost immediately the 26th MEF deployed to Cygnus where he saw nearly all of his fellow troopers perish in the battle of New Jerusalem."

I agree the supposed mention of the unit in Dirt should be removed until we know for sure if it was mentioned or not.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:39, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

I stand corrected on that. But yes, the unit was never mentioned in Dirt. - mdbleach (talk) 14:40, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
I think the confusion stems from the fact that Mount Haven was at one point assumed to be a city on New Jersusalem. However his universe article later clarified Mount Haven was a city on an unidentified colony world and that the battle there took place weeks after New Jerusalem. But yeah, go ahead and remove any mentions of Dirt.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:48, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

Wasn't Rookiee (supposedly) still a member at the time? Alertfiend - Team Chief 17:31, 23 October 2015 (EDT)

There's no source that proves that he was, and even if he was, it's not mentioned in Dirt anyway. - mdbleach (talk) 17:31, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
I am aware of that, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but I still agree. Alertfiend - Team Chief 17:51, 23 October 2015 (EDT)
