==Operational history==
On [[2531#February|February 4, 2531]], Professor [[Ellen Anders]] [[Reclaimer|activated]] the [[Relic (location)|Relic]] which displayed a map of nearby star systems. This star map led both the [[Covenant]] and the {{UNSCShip|Spirit of Fire}} to [[Arcadia]].{{Ref/Level|HW|Relic Interior}}{{Ref/Level|HW|Arcadia City}}

On [[2552#November|November 3, 2552]], following the aborted firing of [[Installation 05]], the display in the [[Control Room (Installation 05)|Control Room]] showed a star map depicting the various locations of the [[Halo Array]] as [[343 Guilty Spark]] explained that the Array was now in standby mode to be activated at [[Installation 00|the Ark]].{{Ref/Level|H2|The Great Journey}}

On [[2552#December|December 11, 2552]], Spark accessed a star map through the Ark's [[Cartographer#Installation 00|Cartographer]] which revealed, much to his surprise, that the Ark was actually located in [[intergalactic space]].{{Ref/Level|H3|The Ark (level)|The Ark}}

In [[2553#April|April 2553]], [[Staffan Sentzke]] sent his daughter [[Naomi-010]] a [[planetarium lamp]] displaying the star map from [[Sansar]]'s northern hemisphere.{{Ref/Novel|MorDi|Chapter=15}}

In [[2556#2556|February 2556]], [[Alistair Estrin]] used a star map to show what had been discovered from the tug that had transported the mystery element to [[Sedra]] that was used in [[Terrorist attack on Sedra City|a terrorist attack]], revealing that it had been sourced from [[Alpha Shard|a fragment]] of [[Installation 04]]. After [[Private First Class]] [[Talitha Macer]] theorized that the element was created by the [[supernova]]-level explosion of the {{UNSCShip|Pillar of Autumn}} that destroyed the ring, Commander [[Jameson Locke]] had the star map perform a scan and locate the element and then scan the rest of the known universe for it, coming up with no results. However, the star map detected another {{Class|Bactrian|freighter}} approaching the Halo fragment.{{Ref/Film|HN}}

In [[2558#February|February 2558]], [[Fireteam Crimson]] encountered a star map at "[[The Refuge (Requiem location)|the Refuge]]" on [[Requiem]] and helped [[Jared Miller]] download the data.{{Ref/Reuse|sacred}} Combined with earlier intel on Covenant archeological teams, it led to the [[Requiem slipspace artifacts|slipspace artifact]] located at "[[the Cauldron]]."{{Ref/SpOps|Departure|Core}}

In [[2558#August|August 2558]], the crew of the ''[[Ace of Spades]]'' visited [[Installation 07]] where Spark used the [[Librarian]]'s [[coordinate key]] on the Halo ring's Cartographer. After [[Rion Forge]] added her touch as a Reclaimer, the Cartographer displayed a star map leading to [[New Carthage Forerunner Way Station|a specific location]] on [[New Carthage]]{{Ref/Novel|PoL|Chapter=16}} where the third piece of the key was located.{{Ref/Novel|PoL|Chapter=28}}

After [[Makee]] activated the [[Forerunner]] [[Keystone]]s together, they began displaying a star map leading to [[Halo Array|Halo ring]]. However, after Makee was apparently killed by [[Kai-125/Silver|Kai-125]], the star map disappeared before it was complete.{{Ref/Film|TV|Episode=[[Emergence]]}}

Cortana later attempted to help Makee pinpoint the location of Halo on a star map, suggesting that they could use the stars in Halo's sky from [[John-117/Silver|John]] and Makee's shared vision to find it. While reporting to Admiral [[Margaret Parangosky/Silver|Margaret Parangosky]], Cortana revealed the location of the [[Covenant fleet]] on a star map.{{Ref/Film|Id=Onyx|TV|Episode=[[Onyx (TV Series)|Onyx]]}}
