An ODST Marine in the UNSC, "Doc" Valdez was an enlisted medic with the ODST detachment for the UNSC Pillar of Autumn in 2552.

Biography

When the Pillar of Autumn fled the Battle of Reach and found itself at Installation 04, Valdez persisted in his duties tending the wounded and dead even as the Covenant began to board the ship. As the fight progressed he, together with the remaining ODSTs, sought to defend the engine room where his medical skills were used to treat First Lieutenant Melissa McKay for a plasma burn on her arm.[1]

Valdez' fate is unknown as is whether he died aboard ship or evacuated to the surface of the installation to be later killed along the way.

Trivia

  • Because medics in the UNSC Marine Corps were Navy Corpsmen, not technically Marines, Valdez may have in fact been a Petty Officer. If true, then being the senior medic in his platoon, he would have been a Petty Officer 2nd or 1st class, the equivalent of a sergeant.
