Simon & Schuster was contracted to publish Halo books following the last novel of Kilo-Five Trilogy, Halo: Mortal Dictata, which was published by Tor Books. The first Halo book to be published by Simon & Schuster is Halo: Broken Circle, by John Shirley, which was released on November 4, 2014.[2] On March 2, 2015, S&S published Halo: New Blood, a short novel by Matt Forbeck, under its Pocket Star Books imprint.[3] Throughout the rest of 2015, Simon & Schuster published four new novels: Halo: Hunters in the Dark, by Peter David on June 16; Halo: Saint's Testimony, by Frank O'Connor on July 27; Halo: Last Light, by Troy Denning on September 7; and Halo: Shadow of Intent, by Joseph Staten on December 7.[4] On September 20, 2016, Gallery Books published the short story anthology Halo: Fractures, which includes the print releases of Halo: Saint's Testimony and Halo: Shadow of Intent.[5] On November 28, 2016, they published Kelly Gay's novella Halo: Smoke and Shadow.[6]
