Perihelion Station takes the form of a cylindrical [[space station]] that rotates about its central axis.{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}} At one end of the station is a [[skyhook]] tether used to deliver materials for the production of [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor]] from a [[BXR Mining Corporation]] facility on [[KC-59]] below.{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}}{{Ref/Reuse|From}} To aid in the manufacturing process of this armor, the facility features various kinds of equipment designed to create its individual components. At least part of the facility makes use of zero-gravity environments to construct its metal components and a system of magnets to move the components along the assembly line.{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}} The station features at least one [[elevator]] used to transport personnel between its various levels.{{Ref/Reuse|From}}

Alongside its industrial manufacturing features, Perihelion is designed to allow for personnel training; these investments were made by the [[UNSC Cartographer Initiative]] to boost the then-fledgling [[SPARTAN-IV program]].{{Ref/Reuse|CFTomes}} The top several levels of the station are occupied by a ringed combat deck. The very top floor of the combat deck hosts a recreation center along with multiple gymnasiums and rooms used for sparring. The second level from the top holds the armory and several multi-axis [[Brokkr Armor Mechanism]]s that assist [[Spartan]]s with putting on and taking off their armor. The third level from the top holds a detachable [[Munera Platform]] [[War Games]] simulation deck for use in testing the armor manufactured at the facility. This [[Materials Group]] facility was constructed in orbit above KC-59 for the purpose of manufacturing [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor]]. By early [[2559]], the [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor (GEN3)|third generation]] of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor had finished development and Perihelion was used in its production.{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}} On [[2559#February|February 10, 2559]],{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}}{{Ref/Marketing|Id=Discover|HINF|Discover Hope}} various technicians oversaw the creation of [[Master Chief Petty Officer]] [[John-117]]'s suit of [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI|MJOLNIR Mark VI]] armor at Perihelion.{{Ref/Reuse|StepInside}}

The {{UNSCShip|Infinity}} would deploy [[Blue Team]] and [[Ninth Platoon]] to the planet and station in order to receive the MJOLNIR armor and test the [[ORCUS exoskeleton]] respectively.
