===Rise of humanity===
In the 2400s, the East African Protectorate began a series of renationalization initiatives including [[water]]-purification facility construction and alternative energy facility construction. ===Human-Covenant war===

During the final months of the [[Human-Covenant War]] in [[2552#October|late 2552]], the East African Protectorate became the site to key battles which determined the outcome of the war. Over the course of the [[Battle of Earth]] despite many other [[Covenant]] forces were deployed all across the [[planet]],{{Ref/Novel|Novel=HGoO}}{{Ref/Comic|Halo: Uprising}} the [[Truth's fleet|Covenant]] under the [[Prophet of Truth]]'s command concentrated most of their forces in East Africa as they excavated long-buried [[Forerunner]] [[the Portal|Portal]] structure, invading and occupying a large portion of the surrounding area in the process.{{Ref/Book|Book=HM|Page=117}}{{Ref/Film|Id=waypoint|Film=Halo Waypoint|Story=Ten Twenty|StoryLinkText=Ten Twenty}}

Following the end of the war, the EAP planned on rebuilding the urban core of Mombasa, an expensive and ambitious project. The EAP also maintained a regional peacekeeping force.
