Wallace

Template:Ratings Template:Human Character Infobox Captain Wallace was a UNSC officer. In 2525, he was Captain of the UNSC Commonwealth, a Frigate. During his career, Wallace lost his left arm below the elbow, though he continued to perform his duties, commanding his warship against the UNSC's enemies, including the Covenant. He chose not to use a prosthetic arm to replace the lost limb.

He was transferring Catherine Halsey and the Spartan-IIs to Damascus for the SPARTANs to receive their MJOLNIR armor. However, while the SPARTANs were on the Commonwealth, they noticed a ship at extreme range. Though Dr. Halsey desired that they go to battle stations, Wallace denounced it as unnecessary because he believed that the no one could navigate through Slipspace accurately at all. Finally, however, he complied, ordering all hands and reactors to 90 percent. After the alien ship fired its pulse lasers and overloaded the ship AI core, he ordered all Archer missile pods from A through F to fire. Still, though 180 rockets were fired, only 90 hit. However, the Covenant ship was completely undamaged because even a ship of that small size could have shields. Then, Wallace decided to fire the main weapon of the ship: the MAC cannon. He also did not wish to present the back to the enemy, which John understood. After pumping two rounds of MAC fire, the hostile ship was still intact. While the Commonwealth was charging the second round, the Covenant ship was similarly charging its second round. Rather than take evasive action and dodge the pulse laser, Wallace decided to hit back first. The laser destroyed most of the ship, as decks two through seven in section one and all port armor were melted. The MAC rounds were also destroyed. Taking Halsey's advice, the Captain ordered all crew not in the bridge to put on respirator packs, and then depressurizing everywhere in the ship except the bridge in order to put out the flames caused by the laser. He then sent out all the Longswords in order to gain some more time. Ultimately, the Longswords were all destroyed. The Captain landed the SPARTANs and the doctor to receive the armor. Meanwhile, the Commonwealth acted as bait in case the Covenant ship returned. Finally, to destroy the Covenant ship once and for all, Halsey allowed the SPARTANs to board the ship and plant the nuclear warheads. However, in the process, Sam was lost.

Although an extremely capable tactical officer, Wallace was rather by-the-book and did not enjoy having civilians on his bridge. Captain Wallace was willing to sacrifice others and himself to complete an objective. For example, though he respected the Longswords and their pilots, he was coerced to send them to attack the Covenant ship.
