Service drones are autonomous machines with limited artificial intelligence programming, more advanced than robotic rovers, used aboard United Nations Space Command ships to perform repair and maintenance in support of the ships human technical crew, and in places where humans cannot reach, or have difficulty doing so. They do not require verbal controls and can be activated and operated remotely via a ship's main computer. UNSC frigates, such as the UNSC Gettysburg, carry seven such drones.[1]
