The Second Platoon was a UNSC Marine Corps unit that fought in the Battle of Mombasa in the Uplift Nature Reserve under the command of an unidentified colonel. During the battle, the platoon became pinned down in the "B" section of the reserve by Covenant Wraiths. ODST Corporal Taylor "Dutch" Miles, whose drop pod had landed nearby, was ordered to reinforce Second Platoon shortly after his arrival. With Dutch's help, the Covenant forces in the area were defeated, allowing the platoon to push forward toward their objective at the former landing zone of the Prophet of Regret's assault carrier, Solemn Penance.[1]
