The first generation of the GTO was manufactured from 1964-1967 with the second gen following from 1968-1972 , Third gen being from 1973 to 1974 when the fourth gene GTO's rolled off the line.
 
During the 1999 Detroit Auto Show, a GTO concept car with a heritage-inspired "Coke-bottle" shape, grille, and hood scoop, was introduced to the world. It was only intended to be a design study and had no engine. It had styling cues paying homage to all the generation of the Pontiac GTOs such as rear quarter windows reminiscent of the 1967 Pontiac GTO, hood mounted tachometer pod, split grilles, tapered tail lights, twin hood Scoops and unique 21-inch wheels.

The Pontiac GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato) was an American muscle car built and designed by Pontiac in the 20th and 21st centuries.[1]

History

Ruwan Ackerson owned an antique 1967 Pontiac GTO with a large air intake and supercharger above the engine block while he lived in Cleveland, Ohio.[2] During the Battle of Cleveland, he and Myras Tyla evaded the Covenant by escaping in Ruwan's GTO.
