Volunteers Needed

Hey guys,

Just letting everyone know that the Halopedia News Service (HNS) is now accepting applications for volunteers to assist in providing news for Halopedians and the community alike.

Being a HNS Volunteer entails:

• Finding news articles, writing them, and make sure it is formatted correctly for easy-to-read access.
• Conducting interviews with Halopedians, other community members, and Halo developers.
• Maintaining the Halopedia News mainpage and excellent categorization.

As the service grows, the needs will change, and more volunteers will be needed.

Your best contribution to Halopedia: My best contributions to Halopedia would be the two articles above, O also check some pages to see if they have any spelling or grammar mistakes which I then would fix and I work a lot on the trivia of pages and I create a lot of polls and quizz questions which everyone likes (not just mine in general but all of them.)

Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I would make a good editor for a couple reasons. 1.) A lot of people know me here on Halopedia and know I have a good personality. 2.) I write movie scripts which would pretty much blow you away. 3.) I'm a Halo expert especially when it comes to Halo Wars. 4.) I'm just an all around good guy to hang out with and I'm a good person to talk to. 5.) I'm doing well in English at school and would of had a position for the school paper but I ended up going to a different school. 6.) I would be able to get interviews from fellow Halopedians (it's part of my career to interview people.) 7.) I welcome all the new users that I can so that they will have a warm welcome and will hopefully return.

Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I think that I would be a good editor because I have a unique style of writing that makes even dry facts interesting to read, i am able to focus not only on the big picture but the little everyday things that makes halo great, and i have a great eye for detail, which will make for more interesting reads. I don't really care about if anyone knows what i write, just so long as someone gets to read quality work.

I own ALL of the games, ALL of the novels, ALL the guides, as well as the Halo Graphic Novel. I often read Halo news on sites like Bungie, and have a deep passion for learning and reporting new things about Halo. Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I am everyday on Bungie.net and know what's going on around in the [[Halo Nation]]. I am quick to report every strange thing I see to an elder in Halopedia, and, if I was able to write them on my own for everyone to know at once it would be great. Your best contribution to Halopedia: Well I fix spelling and grammar mistakes most of the time, but I also hunt down and erase spam, mark up articles for deletion when they aren't useful, welcome users to Halopedia and give my opinion on current events.

Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I'm on Halopedia and X-Box Live nearly every day, making me very Halo-aware. My nitpickingness for proper grammar and spelling is what I am known for, though I am also good at rewording what others say and create theories based on what has been said and shown. Also, I stay up-to-date on current events by paying careful attention to the least biased news source in history, BBC News, so I know what a news story is to look like. Finally, I tend to check recent edit history and the like, as well as read up on my messages, and have the Main Page on my watch list, so I know when something important is going on. I guess that's a little long, but it serves its purpose.

Your best contribution to an article: I recently went through the entire 7 article. I cleaned up, reorganized, and removed unnecessary content from the entire article. I have also undone some fairly large vandalism over time, but I cannot think of anything specific.

Your best contribution to Halopedia: I have stopped many vandals on this site, as well as undoing bad edits and other miscellaneous Clean up. I also try to fix biased or presented facts on halopedia, correcting them to a proper format.

Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I do massive editing all over the internet, correcting grammar and fixing up sentences. I can detect nearly ever grammatical error in a text as I read it, and correct it as soon as I can. I am also fairly halo-aware, I am on most days and I am usually up to date with most occurrences and updates on the halo universe. On top of that, I will have the recent edits open on my computer nearly every day so I can know what is happening with halopedia as soon as possible.

Best contribution to an article I don't make extensive contributions to many articles, but I did update the Kojo Agu article with information from a screen capture.

Best contribution to Halopedia I am a grammar and spelling man. I make many edits a day. I normally try to get at least five edits per day. Since I joined only a couple of months ago, I have made over four hundred edits. Most of these have been corrections to grammar. If there is an error in grammar, you can bet I will get to it.

Why I should be a news editor I am a Halo addict. As such, I constantly check for new information about Halo. I check Bungie.net, Halo.bungie.org, Halo Waypoint and Xbox.com at least ten times a day each. If I am constantly looking for news, I would love to share the information I find.

Why you think that you'd be a good news editor: I have lots of frequent time after school and during weekends. I’m also doing pretty well in grammar right now. I’m a huge fan of Halo and I’m frequently on IGN.com or Google searching the latest Halo news. I also love to watch lots of Halo 3 machinima and can do research and other things too. I also have read some of the Halo related books making me a good resource.
