Mitchell was sent to fly the Spartan Red Team, headed by Spartan Frederic-104, down to the surface of Reach during the Battle of Reach aboard Pelican Bravo 001[2]. He was killed by a Covenant AA plasma mortar hit at the Pelican, destroying its cockpit with him inside, despite Knife 26 and the Longsword escort's attempts to protect the dropship[3]. It is likely that he was from the 23rd Naval Air Squadron being part of Echo 419's wing.
