Biography[edit]
Battle for Zeta Halo[edit]
- Main article: Battle for Zeta Halo
On December 12, 2559, Kinney was aboard the UNSC Infinity when it was ambushed by Banished forces upon its arrival at Installation 07. As the Infinity fell to the Banished assault, Kinney was evacuated onboard the lifeboat Papa Tango Delta 09 piloted by TJ Murphy. The lifeboat managed to fly through a destroyed Banished dreadnought, though only its companion lifeboat Echo India Bravo 08 came out unscathed. Papa Tango Delta 09 was hit, losing its back section, and spun out of control.[3]
Kinney’s lifeboat crash-landed on the surface of the ring, and was lodged inside a crevice, leaving its occupant trapped. Kinney sustained severe internal injuries from the crash. For six hours, the rest of the crew took turns transmitting a distress call, which was eventually answered by Spartan-IV Tomas Horvath of Fireteam Intrepid.[2] However, after the explosion on the ring and its sudden slipspace jump, they lost contact with Horvath. The event, which fractured the ring, also buried the lifeboat deeper into the crevice, with the surrounding rubble crushing the lifeboat inwards, with its windshield being shattered from the immense pressure. While the rest of the crew survived, Kinney had apparently died during the incident.[1]
