The Model Energy Sword.

According to a Bungie update posted by lukems, there will be Halo 3 Replica Guns. Bungie has worked with Jasman Toys and they will be showcasing the new Halo 3 Laser Tag Replicas. Bungie concentrates mostly on realism, but the guns won't be full scale. Since the Master Chief is 2 meters tall and having a full scale replica of the gun he carries would be too large and too heavy for the normal-sized adults, the scale was lowered to compensate. It is also assumed that these will be used as Laser Tag toys. The prototypes were on display at the 2007 ComiCon, at Tor booth (#1116). The replica Plasma Rifle is 54.5cm from nose to tip excluding the flaps at the rear end of the rifle, approximately a sixth smaller than the one from the games. Also, there is also a charge count like in gameplay.

Laser Tag

At the Q&A, Bungie announces, "Our Halo Laser Pursuit differs in the way that it is trying to replicate the game instead of just having your basic laser tag game. The target will have shielding similar to the type in the games. When you are shot you will show and be shown the damage to your shield, if you can get away your shield will recharge to full power just like a Spartans or Elite's." This is true, however the bar does not beep when in lower health or make a recharge noise when it recharges.

UNSC Weapons

Bungie, however, is still working on Human weapons. This is because "As with all toy guns, they can be mistaken for real weapons."

Realism

According to Bungie, the Plasma Rifle will have lights and recoil similar to those in the actual game. It will also have the realistic sound effects from the game as well as some of the special features including the “overheating” when shot too many times in a row, which causes the side vents to pop out. The Plasma Pistol will also have the lights and sounds as well as a recoil vibration when shooting and a “super shot mode” when holding down the trigger that will do more damage. The guns also feature a reload button for when you are reloading however, you can only reload when your ammo is at 0. Only time will tell if other alien weapons such as the Needler and Covenant Carbine will be part of the collection and compilation.

Where to Buy

"The Covenant Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol will be available at your local Hot Topics and other fine retailers starting October 2007." says Bungie, at a Q&A, "The Covenant Energy Sword will be available sometime in 2008."

Laser Skirmish versions of the Covenant Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol (toy replicas) can now be purchased online at www.thinkgeek.com. The pistols can be purchased for $79(US) each, and the rifles for $129(US). See http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/warfare/a1f7/ for more details. On youtube you can look up thinkgeek's channel and among the videos, you can find a video of him holding and "firing" a Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol. In the holiday issue of eToys it is shown that two plasma pistols will cost $50 while the energy sword will cost $200. The energy sword will be about 3 feet long.
