An Unidentified Halo Project was announced at the same time of Halo Wars. The so called Untitled Halo Project was announced at X06. Peter Jackson, with his recently-formed Wingnut Interactive, will create a game set in the Halo universe, in partnership with Bungie Studios. The game is toted to be the 'next chapter' in the Halo story and is stated to feature a new way of playing games.

Peter Jackson who is also producing a movie based on Halo had this to say about the New Project:
"I'm getting a little bored with films, ... More and more I'm looking forward to the release of games and not movies. I am more aware and excited about games.
"I do not have to keep delivering stories as movies - there are other things I can do.
"Technology is at a point where we can blend a lot of film storytelling with interactive entertainment... the series would not be for hard-core gamers.
