Lance Corporal Eugene Yate was a UNSC Marine who was infected by the Flood, (presumably during the Battle of Installation 05) and was controlled by the Gravemind while infected aboard on the former Covenant holy city of High Charity. When Cortana was trapped aboard High Charity, she viewed through his memory via the Gravemind.[1] She played his final moments on a loop and drew strength from his courage and tenacity.
