Captain Coleman was the first captain of the Phoenix-class colony ship, the Spirit of Fire.[1] He or she accepted this position in 2473, the year the ship's construction was completed. Under Captain Coleman, the Spirit of Fire aided in the UNSC's interstellar expansion efforts by transporting colonists and equipment for colonization, including pre-fabricated structures such as schools and hydroponics facilities.[2] Captain Coleman served until 2484 and his or her position was then filled by Captain Rehkov. By at least 2531, Coleman's name and the period of his or her service as captain were painted onto the side of the Spirit of Fire's hull.
