Buckman was sharing command of Charlie Company with Lieutenant Jake Chapman during The Battle of Reach. He was killed, along with all but four members of Charlie Company and Covenant troops[1], due to a UNSC Longsword spread-bombing that had been poorly targeted- ironically, on his own orders.
