After returning from his mission Buck rejoined Fireteam Osiris in the Full Moon bar where they joked around briefly for a bit before Locke pulled Buck aside. Locke asked Buck about how he'd felt working with Mickey Crespo again who had previously betrayed Buck. Buck opened up to Locke about how Mickey's betrayal had haunted him for years but he had come to understand that Mickey's actions weren't his fault and while Buck had been a good friend to Mickey, Mickey hadn't honored that in return. Locke recognized that the side mission taught Buck a lot and asked if Buck was intending to leave Osiris to reform Alpha-Nine. Buck admitted that while the decision was above his paygrade, he wouldn't mind if he was in fact asked to reform his old team on a permanent basis.
By the start of November, the ship exited slipspace at one point to receive Buck and the rest of Alpha-Nine, the team he had once led and now was in charge of again. Buck looked for Locke within the Spartan Ops section of the ship to report in, but only after wandering into the Full Moon bar did he find he and the rest of Osiris being served up a round of drinks by its bartender, Helen Fink. Locke greeted him warmly and said he'd arrived just in time to make good on the drink he owed him. Buck claimed the details of his recent mission were classified when asked about it, a claim which the three Spartans of Osiris reciprocated when the same inquiry was put to them. Soon the four of them were laughing and trading stories, but Locke asked to have a word with Buck as soon as a lull appeared in the conversation. He led the older man to another corner of the bar where they could sit just far enough away from Tanaka and Vale that they could reasonably pretend not to be listening in. Jameson pointedly asked how Buckhad just managed working with Spartan Michael Crespo once again, someone who had betrayed him and the UNSC a few years prior. After listening to what he had to say Locke could only respond by stating this side mission seemed to have taught him a lot. He further asked whether Buck was planning to go back to leading his own team on a permanent basis and learned that while that decision was above his pay grade, he did feel ready to give that a shot again. At that moment the rest of Alpha-Nine came into the club, with Mickey entering last. The entire bar fell silent and as soon as he entered but Buck invited him to take an open chair and he and Locke's table. Buck introduced Mickey and Locke to one another and despite being reminded that he'd used to shoot traitors like him for a living, Locke extended a hand in greeting to him. As Spartan Crespo had volunteered to buy drinks for their table, Locke requested a Scotch. Before he left to make the purchases Locke pointed out that they were all Spartans there, and that he had broken a lot of laws himself and had done plenty he probably shouldn't be proud of. Seeing that Mickey remained uncomfortable, however, he decided to go with him to the bar. Before they made it back to the table Buck was joined by Captain Dare, who promptly dared him to marry her. Everyone in the bar had stopped talking then, waiting to see how he would respond. To their delight, the two were soon married on the spot by Roland.

When Mickey arrived, Buck introduced him and Locke and made a point of asking Locke about his previous job of killing traitors. To Buck and Mickey's surprise, Locke gave Mickey a friendly greeting and told the man that he had also broken a lot of laws in his time and done a lot of things he wasn't proud of, but Locke had always made sure he did them for the right reasons which Mickey promised to keep in mind. Locke joined Mickey in getting the three of them drinks and along with the rest of Osiris and Alpha-Nine, witnessed Buck and Dare's impromptu wedding. Buck subsequently left Fireteam Osiris to lead Alpha-Nine again on a full-time basis, taking on another classified mission shortly after his honeymoon.
