The Shaw-Fujikawa Slipspace Drive was developed secretly by a group of military researchers in 2291.This motor is capable of slipspace jumps of hundreds of thousands AU(Astronomical Unit).

The Shaw-Fujikawa drive of the Humans "forces" its way into slipspace by using brute force. The Covenant on the other hand slice open slipspace and are therefor much more accurate when it comes to slipspace jumps. In Halo:First Strike, captured covenant engineers made the Gettysburg the fastest ship in the UNSC, by upgrading its slipspace drive.

The drive is explained more indepth in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx on page 53.
