User:Pilot/Sandbox/Redesign the Button Layout
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Those Control scheme pages are mission information and might need a redesign, so I got many view options, whatever is the winner.

Information on the Controls
The control scheme pages are lacking in information. The reasons are viewed below:
Combination, Hold, Tap, and Toggle
In Halo: Combat Evolved (PC port), there's an input action called "Exchange Weapon"; it does what it says. "Action" (E key) can do that, but not only is "Exchange Weapon" not used to enter a vehicle or do anything that "Action" (E key) normally does, but you don't have to hold it for a short second; instead, you can just press it, unlike "Action" (E key).
Input Action Names
I have mixed opinions about those names.
| Input Action | Button | |
|---|---|---|
| Reality & Precise | Offical Name | |
| Select Next Grenade Type | Switch Grenades | Left Bumper |
Input Actions With More Than Two Possibilities
Example of Warthog movement. If you are a fan of racing games, you know how important it is to be able to control the range of speed thanks to input devices that have a button that has more than two possibilities, like the Controller (360)'s Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Left Analog, & Right Analog.
In MCC, I'm not sure the keyboard and mouse input action movement supports it as long as there's a special keyboard that does have special keys that have more than two possibilities.
Input Actions Aren't Allowed
Not all input actions are useable for all game modes for various reasons.
Example: A flashlight isn't usable in multiplayer, except in Halo: Combat Evolved.
Controller Buttons Order
Below the table, they aren't in alphabetical order; instead, the order is based on the X-Input code; the D-pad isn't based on the code order; it's based on the Microsoft keyboard order and ← ↑ → ↓; the D-pad looks better under the buttons.
The original Xbox controller isn't an X-Input controller, but because I couldn't find information about the code order and the OG controller design is similar to the Xbox 360 controller.
In Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 on Xbox 360 with backwards compatibility, the "White Button" is "Left Bumper", and the "Black Button" is "Right Bumper".
| Original Xbox | Xbox 360 |
|---|---|
| Unbind | |
| A | |
| B | |
| X | |
| Y | |
| White Button | Left Bumper |
| Black Button | Right Bumper |
| "Back" Button | |
| "Start" Button | |
| Left Analog Click | |
| Right Analog Click | |
| Left Trigger | |
| Right Trigger | |
| ← D-Pad | |
| ↑ D-Pad | |
| → D-Pad | |
| ↓ D-Pad | |
And More
Still a work in progress.
