Regarding the overhaul[edit]

Great work on the update BaconShelf! I have a few questions though, what sources did you use for the descriptions of each rank? For example it says rear admirals command battle groups, but captains can command fleets as well (Captain Lasky/Captain Del Rio leading the UNSC Infinity as the flagship in the Expeditionary Strike Group 1 fleet ). Is it noteworthy to say rear admirals command mere battle groups as their primary description when captains can command full fleets?

Also, could we put the rank insignias back into the box for each rank, the images are represented in the games so why not restore them. Good update otherwise.Editorguy (talk) 13:14, September 17, 2019 (EDT)

Thanks man. All the info in the tables is directly taken from the OSFM pages sourced in each section, I just didn't want to reference the same source in every single box in every table, but if you can think of a better way to handle all that I'm definitely open to suggestions. As for rank insigs, they were just the modern day US ones with no backing to say they're the ones used in lore. I think the current plan is to take a look through media at some point and determine what the actual rank patches used are. BaconShelf (talk) 13:52, September 17, 2019 (EDT)
I know that the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy insignia was used in the Halo 3 hillside memorial ending, and there's probably a few other official insignias scattered throughout the games/media.Editorguy (talk) 14:13, September 17, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah. Personally I wonder if the Reach ranks have any canon value but I'd suspect not, sadly. BaconShelf (talk) 14:15, September 17, 2019 (EDT)
