Talk:Kewu R'shi'k-pattern plasma rifle

Untitled[edit]

The Brute Plasma Rifle is supposed to be better at taking down shields. Albiet as as good against the non-shield component.

I think i'm the only person who likes this gun...--NOTreal1 02:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I like the all halo weapons including the brute plasma rifle.I think it is very conveinent and usefull weapon, because it's perfect for battling opponents with strong shields.--0nyx Sp1k3r 02:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)BLARG!!!

I think I like it better than the normal Plasma rifle. I only like the original because its classic, do you think the brute plasma rifle is more powerful?, or is it just me?.--NOTreal1 02:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't like it because it overheats more quickly, which doesn't work when fighting at medium range or with an enemy who moves around a lot. --ED(talk)(gaming) 02:56, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

When you duil weild it usualy won't matter for two reasons:1.fire one, overheat, fire other, ect...,2. if you fire both of them at the same time, it won't be to bad since the enemie will most likely be dead. I don't understand why everyone hates it so much!, sure its not the best weapon in the game...but it has its good advantages.--NOTreal1 05:22, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I love it. Whenever I have a choice, I take the BPRs over the 'E'PRs. In addition to their increased rate of fire, I also think their color is more pretty than the blue. --Dragonclaws(talk) 07:07, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't care if it's unbalance but I love dualwielding the brutePR and the bluePR on the level gravemind because I think it shows that your not taking sides of the covenant civil war.It make me feel that Your here to kick EVERYONES ASS,Separatists AND Loyalists. Your the master chief just using what you can find.--0nyx Sp1k3r 14:44, 30 June 2007 (UTC)BLARG!!!

Isn't the Brute Plasma Rifle supposed to be replaced by the Brute Spiker?--File:Glider.png|20px]] ΓΣH ÜBΣR Ð1G1P4ΓÐ File:sm_battle_rifle.gif]] 03:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't know about the spikers... I think it will be gone in Halo 3 though... I think the only reasone it was created is so that the brutes could have thier own basic weapon. Pore BPR... Never stood a chance. I to think it looks cooler than the PR, Even if (or most likely when its takin out) I'll still love it as one of my top five Halo 2 weapons--NOTreal1 03:49, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

this is my fav weapon in halo 2 Halonerd147 File:Community.gif|20px]] My Talk My FanFic 16:46, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Picture[edit]

The main picture isn't that bad, but it's a little blurry. Is there any way to get a better one? I couldn't find one on google, but there's bound to be others.

Rename[edit]

It is said by Bungie that the Brute Plasma Rifle is the Okarda'phaa-pattern plasma rifle re-painted. So, we should rename it, as we know the official name of the normal Plasma Rifle, Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle.--Μητσάρας κι όποιος αντέξει File:1229655910-Th_master.jpg|20px]] 14:49, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

You should know that it is not just a re-painted version. For example, the weapon's fire rate is increased. You should say that is a modified version rather than a re-painted version.--Odysseas-Spartan53 15:04, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Halopedia Vote Symbol Neutral.svg Neutral - Since there are a few differences between the Brute Plasma Rifle and Elite Plasma Rifle I don't see the problem in it, although I do partially agree with Kougermasters. Halopedia Vote Symbol Neutral.svg Neutral - One's a modification of the other. That makes them variants of the same weapon; not quite the same, but not really two different weapons either. It's kind of like comparing the Russian AK-47 with one of the many cheap rip-offs that have made their way through Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and China. Doesn't matter either way to me. Smoke My pageMy talk 01:24, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Oppose.svg Oppose - If it's a modified version, why would it be Type-25? Brute Plasma Rifle will do fine until Bungie releases more info (if they do). — Kougermasters 20:14, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Oppose.svg Oppose - For the same reason above.--Odysseas-Spartan53 15:04, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

So, it's not going to be renamed? Alright then. —Master Kouger 22:26, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it won't be renamed. I removed the rename template. -Μητσάρας κι όποιος αντέξει File:1229655910-Th_master.jpg|20px]] 13:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Confusion[edit]

in the article it states that Cole protocol stop members of the covenant from modifying the plasma rifle, I thought Cole protocol was the UNSC protocol implaced by Vice-Admiral Preston Cole, stating that no UNSC vessel or shipboard AI may risk falling into covenant hands and must self distruct if that risk becomes too great. —This unsigned comment was made by Index3769 (talkcontribs). Halo 3 ODST[edit]

I'm curious...if the Okarda'phaa-pattern plasma rifle from Halo 3 fires the same as the Halo 2 Brute Plasma Rifle, how will they compensate for this in Halo 3: ODST? Would the new version fire even faster or more powerfully?

Capt. Daget J. Sparrow 10:04, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Then again, since the regular Plasma Rifle isn't apparently making an appearance in the game, it doesn't really matter.

Capt. Daget J. Sparrow 10:06, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Multiplayer[edit]

Is this weapon available in the multiplayer disc of ODST? Teh lolz! Bionicle+Lotr 14:23, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

No because that is Halo 3 multiplayer so therefore it wont. No matter how BADASS it would be.Iamforerunner 21:38, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Jackals wielding Brute Plasma Rifles?[edit]

Are the jackals using brute plasma rifles in Halo: ODST, as it is said in the changes from Halo 3 to Halo: ODST section?

Yes, occasionally. - Halo-343 (Talk) (Contribs) (Edits) 18:33, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the EPR is replaced by the BPR, and is a really good weapon in firefight when your going for endure, as you hae one person with a BPR, and another with a spiker, one takes down the shields, and the other finishes them off, and Jackels and Red Drones will sometimes use BPR's (the latter will ONLY use BPR's, and can be really annoying), and Jckels and Brute Minors will also sometimes use Needlers---The ever silent Guardian, the SPARTAN-001, the creator of the universe, DragonLord Seth (check out my bungie.net profile, and if you want to have a character in a popular fanfiction, email me at randomdudeomega@gmail.com)

Strenght?[edit]

I read somwhere that BPR is stronger and more inaccurate than the elite version. Is this true?

In Halo 2, yes. However, when comparing the Halo 3 Plasma Rifle with the Halo 3: ODST Brute Plasma Rifle, then the answer is no.

Was used in ODST?[edit]

Didn't this weapon only have the red coating in ODST, but not the same amount of power/handling that it did in Halo 2? Could it just be a different variant, or what? Just making sure.

Reference & Comparison Images between Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST[edit]

Could someone get a profile screenshot, or do a transparent cutout render of the Brute Plasma Rifle for reference and comparison between the Brute Plasma Rifle of Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST? I have a screenshot, but I'm worried it may not be big enough, so if someone could somehow provide a bigger and better screenshot, that would be great. --Xamikaze330 14:49, 16 November 2011 (EST)Xamikaze330

Never mind. I was able to take care of the Brute Plasma Rifle from Halo 3: ODST, but I'm still keeping a lookout for a bigger image of the BPR from Halo 2. --Xamikaze330 21:01, 25 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330
Unfortunately there is only one and a half way to get a good large image of any Halo 2 asset. The first is if you have a modded original Xbox along with a Dev Trainer tool to actually capture the images. Capture cards won't work as you'll still be restricted to the FPS view rather than a free cam that will let you get as close as possible to the object in question. Sadly modded xboxs are a little hard to come by today. The second would be to mod Halo 2 Vista, however unless you're willing to put a lot of time and possibly sacrifice your computer's integrity it will either not work or be a pain in the ass.

I tried the latter as I was just ticked off we don't have that many images from Halo 2, but sadly despite my best efforts I could not get any dev trainer for Halo 2 Vista to work. If it did I would have gotten the highest quality pictures I could for every asset possible.

The only other option to try is rip the 3D model and put it together in a 3D model editor, which I don't know how to do. Durandal-217 12:06, 26 February 2012 (EST)

While it certainly would be a great undertaking to try and crack Halo 2 Vista, I think I know of someone who can help on the Spanish Halopedia. I'm only partially fluent in Spanish, but I'll try to get a message to him/her. The person in question is called Obliterador, aka Obliterador96. It is possible that this user may be able to help. It's worth a try. --Xamikaze330 14:25, 26 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

It's worth a try, but the thing I've noticed about Obliterador is his images are usually low resolution, mainly because I believe he is just playing the game with a normal hud and hitting print screen and just cropping the object he is focusing on. The reason I say this is I notice his images are never that large. If he does use a dev trainer and is willing to help, we need images that are large with the object of question at really close view. If possible images need to be of the same resolution as those we get from Halo 3/Reach. Durandal-217 14:45, 26 February 2012 (EST)
You believe he/she is playing the game with a normal HUD and hitting print screen and blah blah blah, while I believe he is using something similar to Eschaton to remove the HUD. And who says the screenshots need to be as large as those we get from Halo 3 and Halo: Reach? No offense, but they seem plenty big to me, and truthfully I don't think all images need to be desktop wallpaper size. They just need to be big enough. I was just trying to give a little praise to Obliterador's contributions, and furthermore, Obliterador has been working on uploading larger replacement images. They may not be exactly desktop wallpaper size, but, as I said, they're big enough. I'm not trying to start a fight, I just want to try to remedy the situation somehow. Crap, I think this went on for too long... --Xamikaze330 16:46, 26 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330
For future reference, if you're not trying to start a fight, then don't insult anyone. Durandal-217 18:53, 26 February 2012 (EST)
Shit, I wasn't trying to insult anyone. Dammit all, now I've made myself look bad! Let's let bygones be bygones, shall we? [Imitating Jack Sparrow] Savvy? --Xamikaze330 20:41, 26 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

Comparable to the Plasma Repeater?[edit]

I just had a thought that I was wondering, are there any videos or even animations (like GIFs maybe, however unlikely) around that compares the fire rate of the Brute Plasma Rifle and the Plasma Repeater? I'm asking because I think it would be worth noting in the article that the BPR fire rate is greater than, less than, or equal to the fire rate of the Plasma Repeater, and vice versa. If someone could help with that and provide a link, doing either here, or if allowed, in the article itself, like maybe the Trivia section, that would be great. --Xamikaze330 21:01, 25 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

Canon or not?[edit]

The Triforce website says in the description for the Brute Plasma Rifle replica that this variant was known as the 'blood-hand' by the Jiralhanae. I am interested to know if this is canon or not. Is it officially sanctioned by 343 or no? If it is, than I believe this could be added somewhere in the article SLiD1nG Pr0Xy (talk) 22:07, 27 January 2015 (EST)

It was produced on-license from 343i, so I doubt they would have made a statement like that without input from 343i's canon guardians. If it helps, someone could ask about it on the Waypoint Forums? -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 23:39, 27 January 2015 (EST)
Pretty much canon, at least according to Stephen Loftus.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 04:07, 28 January 2015 (EST)
