Mark VII prototype?

I find it a bit unusual that the Black armor had features that not the Mark V or VI had. Also the fact that Team Black still wore it after the second version of Mark V was released a month prior strikes up a interesting point. The Mark VI was released just 2 months later with the Mark VII being released just less than 4 months after that.
