Onryō
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Onryō is a habitable moon found by the crew of the Huygens-class survey ship Anjin that orbits the ice giant planet Funayūrei.[1]
History[edit]
Circa 2557, the planet Funayūrei was discovered and recorded by a researcher working with the UEG Cartographic Corps during a three-year deep-space survey voyage. While initially seeming like an uninteresting place, a scan of the natural satellite Onryō revealed an eroded small settlement and a lone derelict ship of archaic design. Viks Taa, a Kig-Yar crew member of the Anjin, told the researcher a story about a resentful San'Shyuum naval commander who took his vessel and vanished into uncharted space after the War of Beginnings had ended in peace. The lone ship found on Onryō matched the old San'Shyuum design pattern from that time. The crew of the Anjin, however, found no signs of a grave or any physical indication that the San'Shyuum inhabitant had ever departed from the world.[1]
Trivia[edit]
The moon was named after the wrathful spirits of Japanese folklore, the Onryō. They are ghosts who return to the physical world in order to seek vengeance.
