Free DLC for Halo 5: Guardians.

Downloadable content, or DLC for short, is additional content for use in video games. DLC released for Halo has been distributed in several ways, ranging from disk based, to the internet through services like Xbox LIVE.

Halo 2 DLC

Due to Xbox LIVE being discontinued for Original Xbox consoles and games, it's no longer possible to get all the Halo 2 DLC that was avaliable though that service.

Bonus Pack

Bonus Pack: Released on Xbox Live on April 25, 2005 for free. It contained the maps Containment and Warlock. It is no longer possible to download this DLC through Xbox LIVE.

Game type: Zombies

Main article: Zombies

Game type: Zombies: Released though the Official Xbox Magazine in Demo disc 45 as a download for Xbox in June, 2005. This is the only official way to get the game type on the Xbox version of the game.

Killtacular Pack

Killtacular Pack: Released on Xbox LIVE on April 25, 2005 for $4.99, and was made permanently free on June 28, 2005. It contained the maps Sanctuary and Turf. It is no longer possible to download this DLC through Xbox LIVE.

Maptacular Pack

Maptacular Pack: Released on Xbox LIVE on July 5, 2005 for $11.99, and was made permanently free on August 30, 2005. It contained the maps Gemini, Elongation, Backwash, Relic, and Terminal. It is no longer possible to download this DLC through Xbox LIVE.

Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack

Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack: Released on disk on July 5, 2005. It included the maps found in the Bonus, Maptacular and Killtacular Packs.

Blastacular Pack

Blastacular Pack: Released on April 17, 2007 for $4.00, and re-released as an updated package on May 7, 2007 (still for $4.00), as several glitches discovered in the included content had been fixed, and made permanently free on July 7, 2007. It contained the maps Desolation and Tombstone. It is no longer possible to download this DLC through Xbox LIVE.

Halo 3 map packs

Heroic Map Pack

Heroic Map Pack: Released on December 11, 2007 for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points), and was made permanently free on March 25, 2008. It contained the maps Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry.

Legendary Map Pack

Legendary Map Pack: Released on April 15, 2008 for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points), and was made permanently free on July 7, 2017. It contained the maps Avalanche, Blackout, and Ghost Town.

Cold Storage

Cold Storage: Released on July 7, 2008 for free to commemorate Bungie Day. It contained the map Cold Storage.

Mythic Map Pack

Mythic Map Pack: Released through the Halo Wars: Limited Edition on February 26, 27, and made publicly available on March 3, 2009 for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points), and made permanently free on July 7, 2017. It contained the maps Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox.

Mythic II Map Pack

Mythic Map Pack: Released as part of the Halo 3: Mythic disc that comes bundled with Halo 3: ODST along with all the other map packs on September 22, 2009, and later made separately available on February 2, 2010 for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points), and made permanently free on July 7, 2017. It contained Citadel, Heretic, and Longshore.

Drop Sgt. Johnson into Firefight

This was a pre-order bonus exclusive to those who pre-ordered the game. It allowed the player to play as Avery Johnson as their Firefight character. With the addition of ODST's Firefight mode to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sergeant Johnson was made available for use by all players as the last unlock in Series 3: Recon.
