Metarchy

A metarchy was a vast network of Forerunner artificial intelligences composed mostly of ancillas and monitors and coordinated by a Metarch-class ancilla.[1] Most of the ancillas in a metarchy were disembodied and never assumed visible form.[2] There were several significant metarchies, including one used by the Ecumene Council located at Maethrillian and one used by the Librarian.[3] The Council metarchy answered to the Forerunner First Councilor,[1][2] and coordinated all operations within the capital, including its defense.[4]
