Menoetius

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Menoetius is a large barren moon found by the crew of the Huygens-class survey ship Anjin.[1]

History[edit]

Circa 2557, the moon was discovered and recorded by a researcher working with the UEG Cartographic Corps during a three-year deep-space survey mission. Initial scans indicated that Menoetius was an uninteresting moon, save for two massive craters measuring hundreds of kilometers in circumference. Closer analysis revealed that these craters were anomalous, appearing to be the distinct result of impacts from mass accelerator weapons. In a personal recording to her daughter, the researcher noted that Anjin's crew were still examining the data to determine the origin of Menoetius' scars. The moon's impacts were either the result of misfires from a UNSC vessel or the remains of a bombardment from an unknown civilization in the distant past.[1]

Trivia[edit]

The moon was named after Menoetius, a Titan from Greek mythology who was struck down and killed by Zeus' thunderbolts.
