The ''Loathsome Thing'' is a named variant of the Z-180 CCR/AEM, with upgrades including a 10-round magazine, a faster rate of fire, faster reloading speed between projectiles, and a slightly higher damage output. The ''Loathsome Thing'' appears as an Ultra Rare Level 4 [[Requisition system|REQ]] that grants 150 REQ Points when sold. It has a faster rate of fire and slightly higher damage output compared to the normal Scattershot, as well as a 10-round magazine. These improvements make the ''Loathsome Thing'' a powerful weapon against multiple enemies up close, as it gives the enemies less time to react, although it retains its overall range from the Scattershot: 13.73&nbsp;m (45.05&nbsp;ft) in hipfire, 18.13&nbsp;m (59.48&nbsp;ft) with Smart-Link, and a maximum projectile range of 39.43&nbsp;m (129.36&nbsp;ft).

In [[Warzone|Warzone Firefight]], [[Knight Excavator]]s, Legendary [[Knight Battlewagon]] bosses that appear on the map [[Temple]], use the ''Loathsome Thing'' when confronted in close quarters.
