Festival of Joyous Partition
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The Festival of Joyous Partition was a newly created annual festival held on the planet Atropos by both its stranded human inhabitants and exiled Covenant cultists. The event served as a peaceful cultural exchange between the world's human settlers and the faithful followers of the Governors of Contrition.[1]
History[edit]
The festival was enacted in the 'Nineteenth Age of Abandonment' shortly after the San'Shyuum Minister of Aretalogy, Kanto'Boreft, had discovered the remote human population on the surface of Atropos and befriended them. The human residents were descendants of stranded human pirates and thieves, marooned for roughly 70 annual cycles. As such, they had no knowledge of the Human-Covenant war and welcomed the arrival of the Minister's flock of San'Shyuum and Sangheili followers.[1]
On the day of the festival, minor delegations from both sides gathered together to exchange cultural gifts, dine together, and share stories of their peoples and histories before parting ways. Minister Kanto'Boreft had observed each festival accompanied with only a few dozen Sangheili in attendance, while more than a hundred others remained stationed at their outpost.
While partaking in the last Festival of Joyous Partition, Atun 'Etaree examined makeshift stalls displaying a vast array of curious human items, ranging from steel swords and golden phonograph records to electronic devices and painted artworks. One particular grim painting captivated him immediately, and he inquired about it. An old human male told Atun it was an original, centuries-old art piece by an Earth artist called "Goya." Atun offered his latest handcrafted arum as a gift in exchange for the dark classical painting, to which the old trader laughingly agreed.[1]
