Danaïdes is a lost former human colony world rediscovered by the crew of the Huygens-class survey ship Anjin.[1]

Colonization[edit]
Danaïdes was a world targeted as a colonial candidate during the age of humanity's interstellar expansion in the 24th century. In 2371, a human colony was established, featuring initial city development, agricultural structures, and small settlements located inland. Mysteriously, however, the colony abruptly went dark less than a year into its life as an active settlement, leading to it being stricken from colonial records and vanishing from official Unified Earth Government charts.[1]
Post-war[edit]
After the Human-Covenant War reshaped human space, the lost world was rediscovered between 2554 and 2557 by the exploratory vessel Anjin. A researcher working with the UEG Cartographic Corps recorded the world during her survey voyage and initially believed the ship's crew had found a new garden world. However, the ship's crew found only the remnants of the lost colony and wiped data logs, discovering no further indications to explain the disappearance of the original pioneer population. The researcher noted the world's eeriness, stating it seemed as though they had stumbled into a crime scene.[1]
Trivia[edit]
The planet was named after the fifty daughters of King Danaus, the Danaïdes, who committed a terrible crime at the behest of their father. According to Greek legend, the Danaïdes were guilty of massacre after executing a plot to slaughter their husbands on their wedding night.
