Life and Death of High Queen Lok'Nok
High Queen Lok'Nok was born in 2521. When she was 3 the old Yanme'e High Queen died of Collapsed Hive Syndrome. Assuming the role as Queen of the Yanme'e, she was forced to go to boring meetings with the Hierarchs and was forced to lay a daily quota of eggs for almost 30 years. When the Great Schism occured, Brutes were stationed on Palamok. Being surrounded by creatures she hated, she began laying more military drones. Before the Brutes knew it, they were outnumbered 25:1. Killing them all, High Queen Lok'Nok took control of her planet around the same time the Prophet of Truth died. She called for all Yanme'e to return to Palamok. Beginning a colonization effort, she organized the surrounding systems to be colonized immediately. After that, she reorganized the Yanme'e language by creating an alphabet to help other races understand Yanme'e history and stimulate trade between the UNSC and the Yanme'e Emirates. During the Yanme'e-UNSC Joint Defensive Campaign, she was in direct command of the military. However, Dac Bneas forces penetrated her palace on Palamok and Dac confronted Lok'Nok. After a lengthly duel where Dac was almost beheaded, she was shot in the head and died. She was replaced by High Queen Pol'Teq.

A Yanme'e Queen is the leader of a Yanme'e hive. Little is known about them, besides the fact that they are extremely large, with elongated abdomens, requiring the support of subservient males carrying them on cushioned litters for transport.[1] It could be assumed that Yanme'e Queens lead their hive, giving birth to new Yanme'e and soldiers for its maintenance and defense. It presumably either resides on the Yanme'e home world or on High Charity. Due to the high numbers of Yanme'e in the Covenant it would seem that there would need to be more than one female filling the reproductive role. Only one has been seen in the series during the Ascension ceremony of the High Prophets of Truth, Regret, and Mercy.
