Sunaion under attack from the Swords of Sanghelios.

Sunaion is a Sangheili city deisgned for worship and contemplation, located just off the coat of Nuusra on the Sangheili homeworld of Sanghelios.

History

On the coastlands of Nuusra, the ancient Sangheili elders erected fortresses to watch over a site they had deemed sarcred -- an immense and mysterious machine that had been discovered by dive-hunters and fisherman. Centuries later, the Sangheili built a city ontop pylons that had been constructed near the relic, now recognizing it belonged to the Forerunners, their gods.

Sometime after the signing of the Writ of Union, the Covenant leveraged the city of Sunaion to explore and worship the ancient machine that they deemed as a Guardian, but they were unable to determine its purpose. Except for a few anchorites, Sunaion had remained empty for most of the Covenant's reign and their war with humanity, though many would come to believe that the Guardian would rise from the ocean one day.

Blooding Years

Sometime in 2558, there was an engagement between the joint forces of the Swords of Sanghelios, the United Nations Space Command and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant faction. Fireteam Osiris, led by Jameson Locke, took part in the operation and aided the Swords against Jul 'Mdama's forces. It was considered the last stronghold of Jul 'Mdama's Covenant faction on Sanghelios. While aiding the Swords in capturing the city, Fireteam Osiris sought out John-117 and the Guardian he was searching for. However, they were soon blocked from going further by the Warden Eternal[1]
