#REDIRECT Sniper Rifle
Sniping
The SRS99C-S2 sniper rifle is extremely powerful, but with a small magazine of only 4 rounds. It is recommended that players prioritize higher-value targets such as Elites, Brutes, and Hunters or, in multiplayer, players carrying power weapons or contesting objectives.

Campaign
*Ensure that you have ample cover to retreat to in case needed and assume a position that gives you a view of the battlefield.
*When in position, remember that enemies may try to flush you out of cover with grenades or advance on your position. Have access to a quick escape route and have a secondary weapon in case you are attacked.
*Due to its precise nature and scarce ammo, the sniper rifle is best used on higher-valued targets that are worth the ammo. To further minimize ammo consumption, aim for critical spots such as the head, or in the case of hunters, the back.
*The sniper rifle is generally ineffective against the Flood, as the rounds over-penetrate larger combat and carrier forms. However, it can be used to snipe the limbs off of enemies such as those with rocket launchers who might be too dangerous to otherwise fight up close. On levels with both Covenant and Flood enemies, the sniper rifle is still usable against Covenant.
*In most cases, the sniper rifle is capable of killing enemies in one or two hits. Shielded elites can typically be dispatched with a single shot to the head, and a hit anywhere else usually pops their shields.
*When dealing with smaller enemies such as flood infection forms, grunts, or jackals, it is generally recommended that you use weapons other than the sniper rifle in order to not waste ammunition.
*The sniper rifle is a powerful tool for counter-sniping against Jackal Snipers.

Multiplayer
*In Halo: Combat Evolved, the sniper rifle requires some practice and skill to be effectively used. If not confident in your own abilities, it may be a better idea to leave the weapon to more experienced teammates, but if currently alone or in a casual environment, there is generally no harm in picking up the sniper rifle for your own use.
*Try to pick targets that you can reliably hit. Slower moving enemies or those who are stationary, such as players on a warthog gun or enemy snipers, are easy and worthwhile targets.
*While still usable at close range, the small crosshair makes the weapon ineffective up close. Try using other weapons if possible.
*A headshot will kill an enemy outright, unless they have overshield. For this reason it is always a good idea to aim for the head.
*Being hit will cause you to stop zooming with your scope. To ensure that you can maintain accuracy and stay alive, stick to cover to protect yourself from enemy fire. If cover is unavailable, ensure that you are strafing, crouching or jumping, as this makes you harder to hit especially when encountering an enemy. Beware that moving can heavily affect your own aim and accuracy, so maintaining a balance between stability and mobility is a good idea.
*As a sniper, you will be expected to provide support for your team from long range. If a teammate or objective is being attacked, the sniper rifle can be used to back them up. Accurate sniper fire can kill the enemies outright or force them to stop and seek cover. You should also use the sniper rifle to spot enemies who may be carrying power weapons or objectives. Sniper rifles are a powerful tool to dispatch flag, bomb and ball carriers in objective modes.
