Miridem was a planet. In 2544, The Battle of Miridem was fought here. All that is known of this conflict is that the Spartan-II's were sent in and Sheila, though actually MIA earlier, was eventualy killed. Dr. Halsey was also present at the battle, witnessing Shielas death, though it is really unknown why she was there.
