Medical scanner

A Medical Scanner is used by UNSC Naval Corpsman [1] to help and treat wounded UNSC personnel. [2]. It is unknown what the exact function of the device is, however, it can be reasonably assumed that it x-rays and possibly CAT scans the patient, checking for tissue and bone damage. It also may contain a medical encyclopedia, of sorts, for field medical procedures and remedies.
