History

Jacob Keyes' apartment was located there on Luna, where he lived with his daughter, Miranda, when she studied at the Academy at Mare Nubium.

Trivia

"Mare Insularum" means "sea of islands" in Latin. Its name came from the fact that old astronomists from antiquity believed that the Moon had water on it, and that Mare Insularum was actually a sea.
