The M392 Designated Marksman Rifle[2], abbreviated DMR, is a combat rifle used by the United Nations Space Command.[1]
Background
Although it saw more widespread use throughout all branches of the UNSC prior to 2548, it has since been superseded in use by the BR55 in all branches but the Army.
Design Details
The M392 Designated Marksman Rifle is an air-cooled, gas-operated rifle firing 7.62x51mm ammunition.
Trivia
- Above the grip on the weapon are the letters M45A771B. Additionally, stamped on the comb of the rifle are the words ARMALITE MG UNSC. This is possibly the manufacturer or a reference to realworld manufacturer ArmaLite Corp.
- It is said by Bungie that the weapon is "best used in time with your breath, if you start slamming the trigger it all falls apart" which may imply that it's accuracy greatly reduces if a player rapidly fires it.
