Serving as sergeant in the UNSC Army Rangers during the Human-Covenant War, Sigrid Eklund notably took part in the Defense of Concord, which succeeded in repelling the Covenant. After the war, Eklund's experience led to her recruitment into the Spartan-IV program. By late 2554, Spartan Eklund was attached to Fireteam Crimson where her actions in several operations caught the eyes of Jun-A266 and Musa Ghanem, who reassigned her to more isolated missions. Later on, she met Spartan Hieu Dinh and the two were sent on a mission to Banished-occupied Camber.
