Template:Infobox Military Unit The Colonial Militia is a branch of the UNSC Defense Force.[1] The Militia's job is to safeguard planets when UNSC Forces are not present (and possibly to act as support and scout units). A colony's militia forces are trained by the UNSC under the Colonial Militia Training Program.

Role

Often trained and raised by non-commissioned officers in the UNSC, the Colonial Militia is comprised of citizens to provide defense, and emergency services and to serve as a potential paramilitary force. Often, militia members would later join the UNSC as enlisted soldiers.

Operational History

A Colonial Militia Garrison on Harvest were the first Humans to make contact with the Covenant, defending the planet for as long as they could before it was glassed.

During late 2552 unorganized Colonial Militia units also fought during the Battle of Earth at Mombasa[2] and Cleveland.[3]

Trivia

  • Colonial Militia units are actually run and organized by the UNSC Marine Corps. It is probable that the UNSC Army also takes part in militia training.
  • The local Colonial Militia may have fought during the Human-Covenant War, supplementing and assisting UNSC Army and Marine Corps personnel units during battle.
