Little is known about Chawla Base other than it is an ONI base located in the city of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States[1], on Earth. It consisted of at least 44 buildings. It also housed a Forerunner artifact. It is possible that the name was inspired by Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-American scientist and NASA astronaut who was killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003.

- Building 40 - blue-level security[1]
- Building 41 - red-level security[2]
- A laboratory inside housed the Forerunner Deep-Space Artifact[2]
Security Levels
There are at least six Security Levels (possibly 7), each ascending with greater strength. They are alternatively referred to by colors.
- Green - relatively low
- Blue - relatively high
- Red - Level 5
- Black - the highest
