BXR-730 is a remote human mining colony under the authority of the Unified Earth Government. The mining operations on the colony are undertaken by the BXR Mining Corporation. In late October 2558, Lieutenant Penelope Boren—press secretary of the United Nations Space Command—announced the apparent death of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 to the public, though mistakenly announced a date of death off by two years. Due to this mistake, Commander Michael Sullivan of the Office of Naval Intelligence had Boren reassigned to the Industries Discourse Management department on BXR-730, where her work would not be public-facing and reviewed on a weekly basis by a member of Sullivan's staff.[1]
