ENS Lovell believed that it was simply a large asteroid and did not investigate further. However, it turned out to be a hostile [[Covenant Empire|Covenant]] [[Covenant Navy|naval formation]] inbound for [[Commander (UNSC)|Commander]] [[Jacob Keyes]]' [[battle group]].
