The Covenant makes first contact with the Lekgolo on Te in the Svir system while searching for Forerunner artifacts.[1] The Covenant declares war on the species and the Taming of the Lekgolo begins upon discovering that the Lekgolo have devoured a majority of the Rings of Te—the gas giant's artificial planetary rings built by the Forerunners.[2]
