The UNSC Musashi was a carrier-type vessel in service with the UNSC Navy during the Human-Covenant War.
Background
The Musashi was one of the hundreds of ships that was present at the Battle of Reach. It was destroyed while moving to cover the Orbital Defense Platforms, when an Energy Projector from a Covenant "Supercruiser" severed the Musashi amidships. The aft section's engines were still burning even after it was severed from the rest of the ship [1].
Trivia
- Musashi obtained its name from Miyamoto Musashi, a master swordsman and one of the greatest warriors of ancient Japan.
- The ship may also be a reference to the Japanese battleship Musashi from the Second World War, and along with her sister ship Yamato, hold the record for being the heaviest battleships in history, and also hold the record for holding the largest naval guns ever mounted on a warship. The Musashi was eventually sunk by SBD Dauntless dive bombers of the American task force during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
